Laser Spider and Thread Vein Removal in Gravesend

The technical name of broken blood vessels is telangiectasia, which manifests as thread veins, spider veins and leg veins. The wavelength of the latest Nd:YAG laser is absorbed only by the veins, leaving the surrounding skin tissue unharmed. This chokes the blood supply, causing them to die and be disposed of by your body's natural systems. Popular areas include the face, behind knees and shoulders, but all areas can be treated. This treatment is suitable for skin types 1 – 3 on the Fitzpatrick scale.

What to Expect at Your Laser Removal Spider Veins Appointment

You will start with a free consultation. We will review your spider, leg or thread vein removal goals and check for contra-indicators. This will be followed by a patch test.

Some discomfort may be felt during this treatment. Some patients compare the feeling to quick, small pin pricks, but the feeling immediately subsides. The treatment area may appear red, purple or bruised and veins may look more visible than prior to the treatment. This will fade within the first 2-3 weeks after the treatment. You will be able to return to work straight after. However, if you have leg vein removal, only non-strenuous work can be done. If veins are still visible 6 weeks after treatment, then another session will be required. A course of 1 – 4 treatments is typically needed.
